Dr. Alessandro Maino is a PhD researcher and interventional cardiologist at the University of Genoa and Policlinico San Martino University Hospital. He earned his medical degree from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and completed his postgraduate training in Cardiovascular Medicine at the Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli Hospital in Rome, Italy.

He subsequently held a postdoctoral research appointment at the Integrated Vascular Biology and Imaging Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, where he conducted fundamental and translational research on vascular disease, with a particular focus on advanced in vivo and intravascular molecular imaging techniques.

During the 2024–2025 academic year, Dr. Maino joined the University of Oxford and the Radcliffe Department of Medicine as a Clinical and Research Fellow in Interventional Cardiology. His work at Oxford centered on investigating the pathophysiology of acute coronary syndromes and exploring novel therapeutic strategies through advanced multimodal imaging approaches.

His scientific work integrates a wide range of methodologies - including multimodal imaging, molecular biology, and electrophysiological techniques - to identify novel therapeutic targets and elucidate the mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease.
